Note: We strongly advise you not to swim in the Zakher lake. The lake has a rich ecosystem and aquatic life so there could be poisonous creatures deep in the lake. In addition, the lake does not possess lifeguards or other facilities found in designated swimming areas. There is also the risk of getting injured through contact with debris as the lake is not maintained for swimming. It is a water reservoir whose primary purpose is water management and storage.

In this zoo, you will find exquisite White Tigers, Sable Antelope, Springbok Gazelle, Arabian Orayx, etc.  The kids can interact with animals and feed them. They will also learn about wildlife preservation and cool facts about animals. 

The zoo features the Safari experience called “The African Safari” where you can see animals in a naturalistic setting. There are also designated picnic and play areas for the kids. Workshops and educational tours are regularly held to engage children and help them understand the importance of preserving wildlife.  

What is the Opening Time of Zakher Lake? 

There are no scheduled opening hours or entry times for Zakher Lake. It is a natural site, not a facility so people can come and go as they wish. However, visiting this lake during daylight hours and leaving before it gets dark will be best. You should also arrange your accommodation beforehand if you intend to stay around for the night. 

What is the Best Time to Visit Zakher Lake?

It is best to visit Zakher Lake in the winter or cooler months when the temperature is a little down. This Lake is nestled in the middle of the desert so the temperature can get quite high in the summer. It will be impossible to stay there for more than an hour in the summer. Besides this, you and your family will be at risk of heat stroke and dehydration. This is why it is best to bring shades, sunscreen, water, and an umbrella with you to Zakher Lake. 

How to Reach Lake Zakher?

By Bus 

Take E303 Bus or E306 Bus from Dubai and they will drop you off at Al Ain Central Bus Station. Taxis and local buses are available at the bus station of Al Ain to take people to Zakher Lake.

By Car 

To reach Lake Zakher by car, drive on the Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) and then take the Dubai-Al Ain Road (E66). Stay on this road until you reach Al Ain Town. From Al Ain City center head north on the Al Ain-Dubai road and then take the exit towards Zakher Lake. It will be quite easy to find the lake once you reach Al Ain as there will be road signs all over the place to show you the way. You can also utilize Google Maps or GPS to reach Zakher Lake.

By Taxi

You can book a Taxi through Uber, Careem, or Hala Taxi to Zakher Lake.  It will take some 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the lake from Dubai.

By Hotel Tours

Many hotels have Zakher Lake in their tour itinerary. You can ask your hotel to add it to the list of destinations if it is not included in your tour. The hotel bus will drop you off with a guide and later come to pick you up at the designated time.
